Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Essays - Mozart Family, Freemasons

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was conceived in Salzburg in Austria, the child of Leopold, Kapellmeister to the Prince-Archbishop of Salzburg. By the age of three he could play the piano, and he was forming when he was five; minuets from this period show exceptional comprehension of structure. Mozart's senior sister Maria Anna (most popular as Nannerl) was likewise a skilled console player, and in 1762 their dad took the two wonders on a short performing visit, of the courts at Vienna and Munich. Supported by their gathering, they set out the following year on a more extended visit, including fourteen days at Versailles, where the youngsters charmed Louis XV. In 1764 they showed up in London. Here Mozart composed his initial three ensembles, under the impact of Johann Christian Bach, most youthful child of Johann Sebastian, who lived in the city. After their arrival to Salzburg there followed three outings to Italy somewhere in the range of 1769 and 1773. In Rome Mozart heard a presentation of Allegri's Misere; the score of this work was firmly protected, yet Mozart figured out how to decipher the music consummately from memory. On Mozart's first visit to Milan, his drama Mitridate, r? di Ponto was effectively created, followed on a resulting visit by Lucia Silla. The last gave indications of the rich, full organization that portrays his later shows. An excursion to Vienna in 1773 neglected to create the court arrangement that both Mozart and his dad wanted for him, yet did acquaint Mozart with the impact of Haydn, whose Sturm und Drang string groups of four (Opus 20) had as of late been distributed. The impact is clear in Mozart's six string groups of four, K168-173, and in his Symphony in G minor, K183. Another outing in search of support finished less cheerfully. Joined by his mom, Mozart left Salzburg in 1777, venturing out through Mannheim to Paris. Be that as it may, in July 1778 his mom passed on. Nor was the excursion an expert achievement: not, at this point ready to go for a wonder, Mozart's gathering there was quieted and any expectations of an occupation came nothing. Back in Salzburg Mozart labored for a long time as a congregation organist for the new diocese supervisor. His manager was less merciful arranged to the Mozart family than his antecedent had been, yet the author in any case created a portion of his most punctual perfect works of art. The well known Sinfonia concertante for violin, violo and ensemble was written in 1780, and the next year Mozart's first extraordinary stage work, the drama Idomeneo, was created in Munich, where Mozart additionally composed his Serenade for 13 wind instruments, K361. On his arrival from Munich, be that as it may, the antagonistic vibe blending among him and the diocese supervisor went to a head, and Mozart surrendered. On conveying his acquiescence he was loudly manhandled and in the end, genuinely launched out from the diocese supervisor's habitation. Without support, Mozart had to defy the hazards of an independent presence. At first his endeavors met with some achievement. He moved to Vienna and in 1782 his show Die Entf?hrung aus dem Serail (The renouncement from the Seraglio) was delivered in the city and happily got. That year in Vienna's St Stephen's Cathedral Mozart wedded Constanze Weber. Before long a short time later he started a progression of membership shows at which he played out his piano concertos and ad libbed at the console. The greater part of Mozart's incredible piano concertos were composed for these shows, incorporating those in C, K467, A, K488 and C minor, K491. In these concertos Mozart brought to the class a solidarity and decent variety it had not had previously, joining intense musical wealth with sections of unpretentious delicacy. In 1758 Mozart committed to Haydn the six string groups of four that currently bear Haydn's name. Remembering for this gathering are the groups of four known as the Hunt, which utilize chasing calls, and the Dissonance, which opens with a ghostly progression of noisy harmonies. Overpowered by their quality, Haydn admitted to Leopold Mozart, 'Before God and as a fair man I reveal to you that your child is the best arranger known to me either face to face or by name.' The pieces are coordinated in greatness in Mozart's ambiance music yield just by his String Quintets, exceptional among which are those in C, K515, G minor, K516 and D, K593. Likewise in 178 Mozart and Lorenzo da Ponte worked together on the first of a progression of operatic artful culminations. Analysis Of Station Eleven By John Mandel - 881 Words

This is a summary of what I have putted in me portfolio and why I choose them as my materials. I choose to put my essay of rhetorical analysis at the first page in the assignment section. One of the reasons is it is the first major work that may clearly show my progress that I have made in this class. The analysis was focusing on Emily St. John Mandel’s science-fiction novel, Station Eleven, which tells an alluring story about the post-apocalypse world. I found this analysis was difficult because I have never written an essay which analyses how authors applies different genres and conventions in their writings to manipulate the readers. Everything is very confusing at the beginning. I googled the term â€Å"rhetorical† to understand how this word may affect my analysis. I have read some sample essays on the internet to get a better view. Finally, I gathered all information together and decided the way to begin my essay. I strongly doubt Mandel’s arguments which i nclude the genre of her book. I claim that she doesn’t provide tangible evidences to support her points of view, thus she failed to convince her readers that what she is trying to demonstrate in her book are correct. It is not easy to make such a query to object a professional writer, especially when this book is the national bestseller. I realized that when I was trying to search for second sources that may disagree with Mandel’s book. Most book reviews and interviews are positive to Station Eleven. Leadership Style Analysis using Value Systems Theory

Question: Discuss about the Leadership Style Analysis using Value Systems Theory. Answer: Definition of Value Systems Theory Dr. Clare Graves comprehensive Value System Theory is a theory that aims to explain and correlate in a holistic fashion the relations between the different psychological levels of a human being and the effect they have on his interactions with the environment. The theory dwells into the gradual development of human psyche and cognition through several earning experiences. Beginning with an in depth description of the Value Added System, it is defined as an acquired and developed logic consisting of certain ideas and ideals which gradually constitute a persons mind-set or a system of ideals (Rokeach, 2008). Every human being acquires, learns and experiences a number of events throughout his or her life and crates certain assumptions of their own. They form their own ideals, values, ethics and morals; define events and happenings according to these mind-sets and thereby carry out their duties, utilize resources ad lead their life by following such definitions and understandings (Walker, Webster and Bianchi, 2011). Three stages or conditions dictate and determine the overall mind-set or the organising principle of a human being as follows: Life Conditions: Four factors make up the life cycle conditions which dictate overall psyche of person. They are: Time, Circumstance, Problems and Place. Time- The period of history or generation and the epoch or chronological era during which a person are a vital contributing factor to the development of a persons psyche. Circumstance- The opportunities, the education and the social status to which a person belongs are another supposedly important factor. Problems- The requirements, the dangers, issues and concerns faced by a person on a day to day basis make up this factor. Place- The natural environment and ecology, the climate and the people around which a person is born and brought up also contribute enormously to the overall life conditions stage of psyche development. Bio-Psycho-Neuro Adaptation: This particular stage deals with the physiological, psychological and neurological factors that affect overall human character and psyche. Medical and health aspects that affect development of a persons total cognition make up this stage. Biological- The genetic lineage, physical structure and development, the metabolism and every other medical health aspects that determine the development of a human being are obviously one of the biggest factors affecting character and personality development (Safty, 2015). Psychological- The emotional stability, cognitive capability and nervous state of a person are another key contributing factor as it determines how a person interacts with the world around him or her. Neurological- Dwelling deeper into the biological constituents of a persons nervous system and the base on which a persons very nature and personality are dependent, this factor deals with the biochemical and acute neurological effects of interaction with the environment, how a persons nervous system affects and is in turn affected by such dealing with the outside world (Bruce, Fred and Todd J., 2009). Socio-Cultural Elements: This stage defines how human beings through their interactions and experiences adapt their own intelligences so as to cope with survive in the world which they live in. A number of factors are interacted with by a human being and knowledge experience gained through such interactive events help and accordingly lead the person to adapt ad modify his understanding, working style, own personality and several other elements of the psyche. Typical contributing factors are Culture, Values, Religious Beliefs, Literature, Fashion, Art, Music, Work, Traditions and Customs, Money, Politics, Philosophy, Architecture, Lifestyle, Family, Skills etc (Walker, Webster and Bianchi, 2011). Figure: Vision and Values for market success Source: (Walker, Webster and Bianchi, 2011) According to the Value System Theory, these determinants dictate the creation of a persons overall character, his understanding of values ethics, and determine his working style interactions with fellow human beings, that is, makes up his or her Thinking System. The theory also sates certain types of Thinking System that a person can have according to the influencing stages. They are: Red signifies individualistic and egocentric mind-set; Beige stands for survivalist way of thinking; Purple defines kinship or close knit tribal way of working and thinking; Blue stands for Self-sacrificing for a group way of working; Orange refers to individualistic and materialistic mind-set of organizing; Green defines thinking and working keeping while caring for the human society and understanding human values; Yellow signifies thinking and working in a cognitive way while exactly understanding the problems faced by humanity and using appropriate functions to deal with them in a responsible fashi on; Turquoise defines understanding the true place of human beings in the universe, learning compassion for all life and protecting nature living harmoniously with it (Marcel, 2009). There are some cited examples that show how multinational organisations are organising their leadership strategies to mould the core values to evolve the cultures around the world. In terms of the how the biggest companies and organizations in certain sectors are being managed and lead, one can discuss leadership styles in companies like Samsung, Google, etc. For example, Googles leadership had coined a motto for the company Dont Be Evil. This clearly portrays how the companys work culture focuses on valuing its relationships with its customers, employees and with the world as a whole. Leaders of the company can be said to be following the Yellow Level System according to the Value Added System theory. Besides Googles, there is another example that establishes the concept of adaptation of skills through changeable environment and that is, Samsung is another leader in the digital and analogy electronics sector that manages its operation, all the while keeping in mind the competition in the business and at the same time the needs of the community and sustainability. The company can be considered to be managed by leaders whose mind-sets are akin to the Yellow value set (Global Harmony with People, Society Environment, 2016). Figure: Companys Mission and Vision Values Model Figure: (Simmons and Striley, 2013) Critical Evaluation of Companys Leadership Style The company in discussion is Omans Public Authority for Radio Television, a centralized company that broadcast programs on radio and televisions. The programs broadcasted are of different varieties, with the leadership now emphasizing on airing more programs that deal with local international issues concerns faced by the human society as a whole (Simmons and Striley, 2013). During the year 1974, Omans Public Authority for Radio Television has started to broadcast from Muscat and gradually transmitted their network across the country. They have overcome every possible obstacle to create their broadcasting operations in both the places, populated and remote stations. Today, they have 119 transmitters, which help them to operate 29 major stations and ninety Transposers. Recently, the ministry of information has declared to introduce the most advanced digital HD technology that helps to build strong networking infrastructure which can deliver smooth transmission to the viewers. Oman is an Islamic country in the Middle East and several restrictions are imposed on discussion regarding certain issues, primarily due to strict laws laid down in the religion of Islam itself. Yet in spite of all such limitations, the media company has decided to start several programs on radio and televisions to address several controversial social, political, economic issues (Thomas and Bendoly, 2009). In addition, the companys Oman General TV broadcast a number of programs that aims to educate people on religious, social, cultural issue seeks to promote harmonious society based on mutual understanding and peace. Thus, the management of the company are to be lauded and according to the Value Systems theory, the company can be considered to be led by a GREEN Egalitarian management value system (Marcel, 2009). For any given company, it is imperative to follow some mandate rules that can regulate the policies trough the work force. Once the rules get established, it is important to determine the specific institutional design of the regulators. Here, Omans Public Authority for Radio Television has beautifully crafted their institutional design with the help of the government to issue better quality to their public. The organisation understands the system of designed institutional norms that strengthen administrative structures by enhancing leadership as well as management. Overall, the said company of Oman respects the institutional framework that delivers strict regulations over accountability, independence and transparency. The work culture in the company is typically focused on positive interactions amongst all workers working at any level in the company (Yammarino and Dansereau, 2011). The company aims to achieve success by airing programs on both radio and television that not just focus on eth commercial aspect of the business, but also emphasizes on how the business itself can give back to the country and society as a whole. However, a number of issues and hardships were faced initially. Socio-cultural and regional conditions were some of the main obstructing factors that hampered the positive changes which the company aimed to implement. The Middle East itself is a region that has witnessed several atrocities on the human society; the strict adherence to religious laws had stifled discussions and debates on cultural and social aspects issues (Martens, 2016). The management of the company faced all of these problems head on and this was mainly due to the changes in their own mind-set which occurred due to the various experiences gathered and local international events observed (Valentinov, 2013). The leaders of the company slowly changed their overall outlook began to focus on hard hitting issues with the sole intention of solving them and instilling amongst the people of the country the feeling of mutual understanding peace amongst people from all spheres and classes (Jepson, 2009). The leadership gradually made certain necessary changes regarding contest of some programs and creation of new programs that encouraged the common people to actively participate in them. Debate discuss regarding several issues are plaguing and affecting the country, the Middle Eastern regions and humanity as a whole. Instructions and guidelines were passed on to the employees to develop and brain storm to create appropriate programs (Marcel, 2009). The intention to associate with ad help the community, create and promote harmonious relations with others irrespective of any factor, the aim to spread unity, harmony and peace amongst the people of the country are typical traits that were also utilized by the management of the company while running the company itself (Emiliani and Stec, 2014). Teamwork and positive work culture are two vital factors that encompass all operations and undertakings of Public Authority for Radio Television. Evaluation Analysis of Leadership Issues Using Value Systems Theory While making the above said changes in their working principle, program contents etc. the management had to keep in mind certain other vital factors such as market competition, challenge faced due to objections of certain groups individuals, restriction imposed by authorities and the changing social political scenario in the Middle East. All of these factors posed several challenges and issues which required careful strategizing and adaptation on the managements and companys part respectively (Bruce, Fred and Todd J., 2009). Market competition and commercial success are obviously vital factors since to put it very bluntly, in the current global scenario, money is required for almost everything. The content aired by the company were subjected to major changes and to ensure continued viewership and public interest, the leadership formulated strategies where address serious issues that attracted the interest of the common people (Batabyal and Nijkamp, 2011). Directly involving people in the discussions themselves is another successful strategy, which proved beneficial to the commercial aspect of the companys operations and pacing up with other competitors in the broadcasting market of Oman. The socio-cultural and political aspects were other aspects which imposed restrictions on the company regarding the content to be aired along with monitoring of all aired real life discussion programs and the issues addressed in them. In addition, security and safety issues were also a very concerning factor with the rise of several Islamic fundamentalist ad radical groups whose aim is to spread death and destruction at any behest (DeAndrea and Carpenter, 2016). The company leadership brought together the whole company as a team and family and provided encouragement by discussing how people-driven philosophy and social responsibility can not only enhance the company but every working individual also. The initiation of absolute teamwork, honesty, harmony and the idea of giving back to the community is clearly reflected in the strategies and actions implemented by the PARTs leadership (Bruce, Fred and Todd J., 2009). Conclusion on Leadership A persons whole idea and concept of leadership is bound to change after being involved in this project. Leadership was thought to be a set of ideas that are learned through education and implemented with certain skills. Yet, after completing this project, it is well understood how every aspect of a persons life is instrumental in creating his psyche, mind-set and thinking process, which ultimately shape up his or her leadership skills and capabilities. The factors and events that influenced the leadership of eth Public Authority of Radio Television and how those vets have affected them were gauged into and understood to a greater extent through the application of the comprehensive Value Systems Theory of Dr. Clare Graves. She managed to strip off that title from me. I should be happy for her. I did not realize it but tears were streaming from my eyes. It is so painful but she is my friend. I should be happy for her. I nearly broke down but I caught a glimpse of colored paper under my table. I picked it up and read it. Cassia, you are a star. Face problems and never run away. Remember, where there is white and black, there is also gray so it is alright to do things your way. Believe in yourself and shine bright like a diamond. I remembered that I wrote it after winning the drama competition last year as a motivation for myself in the future. I wiped my tears and smiled. I am right. I should believe in myself. I am a star after all. I know that I am quite childish but I also know that I am a rational and thoughtful girl when I wanted to be one. I am right. I should face my problems. I could start by apologizing to my parents and doing my revision. I also decided to support Jenny. I am a star and I am going to shine brighter than before. My phone rang. I picked it up. Hello Cassia, are you okay? Lisa asked me. l am feeling on the top of the world. I told her happily. There was a slight pause. l know you are going to ask me how I suddenly become so optimistic. I said, looking at the paper I held tightly in my hand, well, that is easy. I did it my way!

Assignment 3 Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words - 10

3 - Assignment Example elf-actualization and esteem needs that appear at the narrow end of the pyramid, goes against the rigid order that the needs should occur (Espinoza, Ukleja, & Rusch, 2010). For the Millennials, the physiological and safety needs would still occur in the provided order of the pyramid, but they would group the esteem, self-actualization, and belonging needs together as they are important to them. This occurs as the Millennials have varying needs in different situations, and thus their preferences shift from time to time. According to Herzberg’s two-factor theory, there is a clear level of needs that are considered to be of a lower level such as those for relationships and job security, and those that are considered to be of a higher level such as those for advancement and recognition. In any case, different motivators have to be combined in different ways to satisfy the needs of different individuals (Espinoza, Ukleja, & Rusch, 2010). Herzberg maintains that Maintenance factors can be utilized in meeting the lower-level needs of individuals while motivators and important in meeting the higher level needs. He suggests that Maintenance factors are only used to meet the basic needs of individuals and prevent dissatisfaction and not for employee motivation. Motivator factors promote job satisfaction and employee motivation by meeting the employee high-level needs. As much as Herzberg has clearly separated the Motivation factors and Maintenance factors, the priorities of the Millennials differ gre atly from those of the earlier generation. As such, for this generation, needs that are considered to be basic, such as job security, and hence covered by Maintenance factors are of less importance for them and instead they prioritize needs such as self-actualization, growth needs, and Esteem needs, which are basic to them, yet they are categorized as higher needs by Herzberg. Case in point, in the absence of such needs, dissatisfaction is likely to occur. As such, these needs

Ernest hemingway Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

Ernest hemingway - Research Paper Example The paper in which Hemingway worked offered reporters the directions to follow to improve their writing: â€Å"Use short sentences. Use short first paragraphs. Use vigorous English. Be positive, not negative† (cited in Tyler 15). This includes the distance, reflected in a deliberately emotionless manner of narration, the replacement of description by the show to let the reader evaluate his reading, the functionality and thingness of the prose. Every detail fixes the impression of an event in the story or interlude. This also includes character comparisons, unambiguous and even deliberately limited. Hemingway’s Style Like every great writer, he sought and found his own way in literature. One of his main goals was clarity and brevity of expression; he wanted â€Å"to strip language clean, to lay it bare down to the bone† (cited in Bloom 74). Hemingway’s famous short and exact phrase became a subject of controversy in literature – whether the understat ement really exists. According to Hemingway, it does. It is based on the deep layers of collective consciousness, on the universal categories of culture, which is raised by the artist in his work and which are enshrined in the customs, ceremonies, various forms of folk festivals, folk subjects of peoples of the world. In those early years, Hemingway also discovered his â€Å"dialogue† – his characters are exchanging small phrases, accidentally broken, and the reader feels behind these words, something significant and hidden in the mind, something that cannot be expressed directly. All of Hemingway’s works were interpreted and considered in terms of â€Å"being lost†, when the main thing is a search for identity, for example, injured by war, which lost its ideals and its place in the world. Therefore, the object of Hemingway’s study was the tragedy of his contemporaries, thrown into the brutal world of wars, murders and violence, alienation of peopl e from one another. His collections of short stories offer the best samples of psychological narration. This paper considers three stories from two collections: The Killers (1927), Hills Like White Elephants (1927), and The Snows of Kilimanjaro (1936). The works of this period defined the main features of Hemingway’s style of and the main type of his characters. All of them are deeply sensitive and really suffering people. However, centuries old Anglo-Saxon and even sporty self-control causes them to talk quietly, biting one’s lip. His characters can be considered as hard-boiled, though some argue that: T. S. Eliot called Hemingway â€Å"the writer of tender sentiment, and true sentiment† (cited in Meyers 19). Hemingway’s dialogue is deliberately sloppy and seemingly insignificant. This is just a mask, sometimes hiding the grimace of pain, which in fact must not be shown to others. And anyway, why should he speak of self-evident things? Dialogue, accordin g to Hemingway, is an easy thing for him, but it would be wrong to assume that this is just a naturalistic account of everyday conversations. No, this is a special kind of seemingly artless, but strictly deliberate selection and sharpening. A short chain of not interconnected phrases performs the basic task – to show the decaying ties of shifted and fragmented world, as it is directly perceived by a troubled mind, not, as it is organized later by a cool mind and fit into the traditional forms. The way of expressing information without any explanation of the

The Features of Sony Reader Prs T2 Essay Example for Free

The Features of Sony Reader Prs T2 Essay Introduction An E-reader is one of the most useful technologies today because of its design and features, particularly in its capacity to make information portable. The dawn of e-readers introduces readers to a unique reading experience wherein they can take their reading materials anywhere they go without the bulkiness and hassle that goes along with bringing actual printed materials. Of all the e-readers available in the market, Sony E-reader stands out over its competitors because of its design and features. In going over the specific features of the matte black model of Sony Reader PRS-T2, one can say that the said e-reader is a must-buy item for readers due to its considerable benefits, regardless of its disadvantages. Features Primarily, Sony E-Reader’s most noticeable features are its design and dimension, display, and performance. Although the reader do not hold a considerable competitive, price advantage over its competitors, the reader may also be considered sufficient enough in addressing customer’s standards on performance. In terms of design, the reader features a 6. 87† tall by 4. 37 wide dimensions; it is also . 37† thick, which is considered lightweight compared to other E-readers (Van Camp, 2012). With its thin design, the reader only weighs 5. 9 oz, which is quite portable and light. Further, the reader is rubberized, and it sports a large chin-area that allows readers to hold the device from the lower part. Aside from this, the reader’s display and performance also play a vital factor in determining its overall appeal and usefulness to readers. Specifically, the E Ink display type and 6† screen size gives readers a larger reader interface. Sony Reader’s battery also lasts to at least 2 months, if the Wi-Fi connectivity is turned on, while 6 weeks if the Wi-Fi technology is turned off. Pros and Cons The most noticeable advantage of Sony E-Reader is its lightweight and attractive design, connectivity features, and features. For instance, with its light and slim design, the reader easily fits the hand while it is also more portable. The reader also features five physical buttons below the screen, which are not available in Kindle’s Paper White model. With this feature readers are better able to toggle from page to page singlehandedly; other e-readers do not have this feature, regardless of the fact that customer’s also prefer to have physical page-turn buttons. Aside from this, Sony Reader’s connectivity features allow readers to connect to social networks, such as Evernote and Facebook, allowing them to post and share their thoughts. Readers can also customize the look of their homepage. The reader also prides itself with its compatibility feature, particularly to diverse digital formats such as Microsoft Word, PDF, Epub, and image file formats. With this compatibility range, users of Sony Reader may also have access to different e-book stores. Although Sony Reader PRS-T2 has its valued, beneficial features, it also has a few disadvantages. For instance, in terms of price, the reader is so far behind its competitors. Its price range, which is at $127-$130, is quite expensive as compared to Kindle Paper White’s $119-$199. Aside from its price, the reader also lacks a reader-friendly illumination, which requires readers to find a suitable place to read on their own (Van Camp, 2012). Further, Van Camp (2012) mentions that Sony still have not provided the exact number of available books in its library, which leaves readers hanging resulting to their patronage of other online libraries. Further, there is also a need to refine the Refresh interface of the E-Reader while it also necessary to advance its page-turning interface to accommodate the diverse finger placements of the readers. Conclusion Considering the features of the Reader, one can say that, if users are going after battery life, portability, and compatibility with diverse digital file formats, the Sony Reader PRS-T2 is a reasonable choice. This is because the said Reader offers longer battery life, thin and weight design, open compatibility to diverse formats, and gadget aesthetics. However, price is a major concern when choosing Sony’s Reader because of its high price range, which surpasses its more popular competitors such as Kindle. Further, it is also noteworthy to consider Sony Reader’s lack of illumination as another limiting factor when buying Sony’s Reader. Conclusively, it is safe to say that the selection of an E-reader depends on the user’s needs, and users should try out e-readers with their own hands to ensure that they get the most value for their money. Jessica :: English Literature

Jessica Jessica Our Greatest Evil TKAMB Prejudice is just one of the many forms of evil found in the novel To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. Prejudice is found everywhere, in the workplace, on the street, at school, everywhere. The novel takes place in a small town called Maycomb. The town is full of citizens who love to gossip and people who discriminate against others. The discrimination is not only against those of colour, but those of lower lass as well. They are most commonly found during the trial of Tom Robinson. Harper Lee presents prejudice as an extensive problem, most commonly in the form of social class, race, and behavior prejudice. A type of prejudice found in the novel To Kill A Mocking Bird would be social class. For example, the Ewell family is considered ‘white trash’. Mr. Ewell is someone â€Å"who will never change his ways,† (31) and will always be considered this way because of several reasons. Mr. Bob Ewell is a part of this WPA organization, a type of welfare program. Because he is the very first person to be kicked out of this program because of his laziness, it shows how much of a lower class he really is, and he is constantly bothered because of this. His several uneducated children never went to a full year of school, and worked long and hard on the farm. Another example would be the Cunningham family. â€Å"The Cunningham family never took anything they can’t pay back†¦Ã¢â‚¬ (20) And when they couldn’t pay back in money, they paid their debt back in anyway possible, whether it is labor, or nuts. The younger Cunningham, Walter, came for lunch at the Finchs’, and Scout bugged him about his unnatural usage of syrup when both Atticus and Calpurnia stopped her. Calpurnia made the comment â€Å"There’s some folk who don’t eat like up†¦Ã¢â‚¬ (24) The lack of availability of syrup caused him to pour syrup on food such as potatoes and meat. The Cunningham family is well known throughout the though of Maycomb, though they aren’t highly though of. Along with the Ewells’ and the Cunningham’s, Aunt Alexandra can also be used to explain social class prejudice in To Kill A Mockingbird. She feels that not only is she above everyone, because â€Å"†¦everyone in Maycomb, it seemed, had a streak: a Drinking Streak, a Gambling Streak, a Mean Streak†¦Ã¢â‚¬ ,(129) but Alexandra also feels that that is a better mother influence than Calpurnia, simply because she is white. This is proved throughout the novel beginning at chapter 13. She continually imposes Scout with rules and etiquette for behaving like a proper lady, because when she grows up, she’s not

Types of Chinese Masks

The origins of Chinese masks are rooted in ancient religious shamanism. Over the centuries and many generations, artists refined the use of colors on Chinese masks. However, Chinese opera masks, possibly the style that is best known in the west, are actually painted on actors' faces. Color Meanings Many colors are used in any given Chinese mask, but the dominant colors impart specific characteristics. Red used on masks indicates a positive character. How to Write an MBA Essay

Most graduate business programs require applicants to submit at least one MBA essay as part of the application process. Admissions committees use essays, along with other application components, to determine whether or not you are a good fit for their business school. A well-written MBA essay can increase your chances of acceptance and help you stand out among other applicants.Choosing an MBA Essay TopicIn most cases, you will be assigned a topic or instructed to answer a specific question. However, there are some schools that allow you to choose a topic or select from a short list of provided topics. If you are given the opportunity to choose your own MBA essay topic, you should make strategic choices that allow you to highlight your best qualities. This may include an essay that demonstrates your leadership ability, an essay that showcases your ability to overcome obstacles, or an essay that clearly defines your career goals.Chances are, you will be asked to submit multiple essays - usually two or three. You may also have the opportunity to submit an optional essay. Optional essays are usually guideline and topic free, which means you can write about anything you want. Find out when to use the optional essay.Whatever topic you choose, be sure to come up with stories that support the topic or answer a specific question. Your MBA essay should be focused and feature you as the central player.Common MBA Essay TopicsRemember, most business schools will provide you with a topic to write on. Although topics can vary from school to school, there are a few common topics/questions that can be found on many business school applications. Answer the QuestionOne of the biggest mistakes that MBA applicants make is not answering the question they are asked. If you are asked about your professional goals, then professional goals - not personal goals - should be the focus of the essay. If you are asked about your failures, you should discuss mistakes you have made and lessons you have learned - not accomplishments or success.Stick to the topic and avoid beating around the bush. Your essay should be direct and pointed from start to finish. It should also focus on you. Remember, an MBA essay is meant to introduce you to the admissions committee. You should be the main character of the story. It is okay to describe admiring someone else, learning from someone else, or helping someone else, but these mentions should support the story of you - not cover it up.See another MBA essay mistake to avoid.Basic Essay TipsAs with any essay assignment, youll want to carefully follow any instructions you are given. Again, answer the quest ion assigned to you - keep it focused and concise. It is also important to pay attention to word counts. The entire paper should be free of errors. Do not use special paper or a crazy font. Keep it simple and professional. Above all, give yourself enough time to write your MBA essays. You don’t want to have to slop through them and turn in something thats less than your best work simply because you had to meet a deadline.See a list of essay style tips.More Essay Writing Tips Take time to reflect on yourself, your goals, your accomplishments, your strengths, your weaknesses, etc. before you begin writing your essay.Research the school until you have a good understanding of the schools mission, culture, programs, and approach.Create an outline to organize your ideas before you start writing.Use anecdotes and personal stories to make your essay original.Dont be too academic - an MBA essay isnt a term paper. It is a marketing packet designed to introduce you.Be specific and detailed. Use examples. Support your statements.Keep it real. You want to impress, but honesty is key.Dont be afraid to be creative. If youre asked where you see yourself five years from now, you can avoid the standard answer and write a diary entry for that day in the future or pretend that youre telling your children about your first job after grad school.Make your essay interesting. Some admissions reps read more than 1,000 essays answering the same question. Hook them with the intro a nd keep them interested throughout to make your essay stand out among everyone elses. Remember that the #1 rule when writing an MBA essay is to answer the question/stay on topic. When you have finished your essay, ask at least two people to proofread it and guess the topic or question you were trying to answer. If they do not guess correctly, you should revisit the essay and adjust the focus until your proofreaders can easily tell what the essay is supposed to be about.
